RHD Chevy Silverado Dashboard

RHD Chevy Silverado dashboard is the most difficult interior we produced for our client, but we finished it very well and still impressive nowaday. 

The LHD to RHD design was done by client, we did the 3D printing prototype for verifying the assembly on pick up. All the gap, off-set and deform were improved to move on prototype injection mold stage.

It is a big parts in 1650mm*525mm*340mm, This huge injection mold was produced in 100 days. We tested it for twice before texturing the MT grain.

After texturing, we improved the dimension for assemblying. The first batch 150pcs of dashbaords were produced and mounted on pickups successfully. 

PROJECT CHALLAGE

From prototyping to low volume production, there are some challages we met.

LHD-RHD Design verify

The first challenge is verifying the RHD design by prototyping, our client has rich experience to optimized the design base on our prototype. We updated to injection mold design and avoid all assembly issue with prototype.

Rapid Communication with reports

We don't use Teams on 2014, lots of conversations with our client rapidly with tons of report, showing the assembly feedback and solution we offered.

Big Mold Manufacturing

The is a 25299kg mold in 2200mm*1100mm*1340mm. Mold lead time is 100 days, also need to textured the MT grain. The tool room finished the mold smoothly.

Low Cost Prototype Mold

This RHD Dashboard is installed in Chevy Silverado, a pickup truck, annual demand is about 150 to 300pcs. The total mold life is less than 5k. A most competitive mold cost is required. The mold solution need to be reasonable both on cost and part quality.
